MASSE IN WASHINGTON RAISING LOCAL AND NATIONAL ISSUES
Canada-US Inter-Parliamentary Group on US Congressional Visit
[WASHINGTON D.C.] Brian Masse NDP Critic for International Trade and the Canada/US Border is in Washington D.C. this week as a member of the Canada-US Inter-Parliamentary group. Over the course of the week Mr. Masse will be meeting with Congressional Representatives and Federal Officials to discuss a range of bi-lateral issues impacting the Canada-US relationship.
Among the issues to be discussed will be the on-going negotiations for the Beyond the Borders Agreement between Canada and the United States, concerns around the over-militarization of our common border and critical infrastructure investments that will enhance our bi-lateral economic capacity particularly the need to proceed with the DRIC/NITC project.
Already while in the US Capital Mr. Masse has had the opportunity to raise issues of local significance including the Windsor/Essex Hum with Canadian Ambassador Gary Doer. The Ambassador has indicated that he is aware of the issue and is actively engaged on the file. Both have agreed to work together on this problem raising the issue on both sides of the border and are committed to resolving this problems in a manner that fairly addresses the concerns of all impacted parties.
